We all do hundreds of things in a day. Some make us happy, and some don’t. But the actions that make us satisfied provide us true happiness or it’s merely a temporary feeling? People say that happiness is a choice, and you should only do things that make you happy. But what makes people happy nowadays, and what are the things that they do to be happy?
Nowadays, people are happy when they are scrolling on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, spending a lot of time on Netflix or any other social media platform. They just absorb negative and useless data. These kinds of people mess up with their own life. They are in the illusion that using social networks, devices and being with wrong people give them happiness. All these things just provide happiness on temporary basis.
Below we have shared three things that will provide you with long-lasting happiness and make your mind calm.
1) Beware of what you think.
Do you know how many thoughts a person has in a day?
According to the study of the National Science Foundation, an average person has 12000-60000 thoughts per day. And guess how of them are negative? Researchers found that 80% of thoughts we’re negative, and 90% we’re repetitive as the day before. Surprising.
Thoughts are something to be care. Your mind is like a garden, and the thoughts you have are like seeds. You’ll reap what you sow. But what we sowed in the past? Negative thoughts, negative mindset, and fear. We weren’t like this when we were kids. Our society, parents, and our school system bombarded these negative thoughts, anxiety, and self-doubt in our mind. But we can still have everything in control, instead of playing the victim game and blaming each other. Let us take responsibility for our self and our thoughts.
Let’s think positive : )
You can think positive by practicing some techniques. It will take some time to get used to these techniques but once used to it. It will be worth it.
Here are some tips that will help you to train your mind to think positively.
a) Focus on the positive side
Happiness and sadness are two different sides of the same coin. Sometimes things are going great, and then suddenly, something terrible happens, and we lose our hope, motivation, and energy. When bad things happen, don’t think negative. People nowadays overthink about a problem. This habit can be responsible for many issues like mental illness, sleep problems, and many other problems also.
Life is a series of happiness and sadness. Whenever bad times comes, don’t lose hope. Keep going, have faith, and look to the positive side.
b) Be grateful
To start the day with a feeling of gratitude is one of the best ways to begin your day. Every day when you wake up, show your gratitude for things you have. Once you start doing this, you’ll be amazed that why you haven’t started this early. Studies have shown that gratitude can help you in improving your physical health, psychological health, sleep, and provide many other benefits.
c) Positive self talk
No one is perfect. Hard times are just part of life. Whenever you feel bad or get into a bad situation, remind yourself it’s just a bad day, not a bad life. And in these situations, positive self-talk isthe key to remain calm and optimistic.
2) How kind you are?
Are you a kind person? How many acts of kindness you do in a day? How do you feel when you help someone?
You might be thinking why I’m asking these kindness questions, because, kindness matters. Have you ever seen photos on the internet in which kids try to help a statue or an animal? They all are just kids, but they have feelings to do good for someone. Just search the internet you’ll find hundreds of photos and videos like this.
According to researches, Act of kindness increases the love hormone, also known as Oxytocin. This hormone helps in lowering the blood pressure and improves the health of our heart.
Another study that conducted in 2010 at Human business school found that the people who were involved in charitable donation we’re happy overall. And there are a lot of studies which proves that kindness increases energy, calms down your mind, makes you more confident, decreases stress, anxiety, blood pressure and helps in fighting depression.
So, wants to be happy? Let’s all do a simple act of kindness, whether it’s feeding a street dog or helping someone with thier home work.
And one more thing, World Kindness Day is celebrated on 13 November every year. We’ll share our experiences on that day.
3) Keep an eye on what you put in your mind
You are reading this article because you were looking for this information and it’s fantastic that you read self-help and learn new things every day. But what most of the people do in a day?
They spend hours on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and here and there. I’m not saying that everyone does this, but most of are doing this Consciously or Unconsciously. They feed useless data in their mind, which don’t help them.
To live a happy life and have a peaceful mind, you need to control your mind. You have to stop doing the things that at the end don’t even matter. To do this, you need to mind blueprint.
But sometimes it’s not, only the external information that stops us from achieving the desired goal. Sometimes it’s our inner voice that prevents us from achieving our highest potential.
Self-limiting beliefs, fears, self-doubt is some reasons which stop us from getting things done. One should have to self ware about his/ her thought pattern. As Buddha said, “If you don’t control your mind will control you. I would recommend watching Mel Robbins video.
Happiness matters, and if you are too busy with Negative feelings and thoughts, then you need to try things that will provide you happiness, not temporarily. So, don’t waste your time in doubt, negative thoughts, lack of confidence. Take action, think positive, Be kind, and feed positive information in your mind.
